Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has disclosed that unpaid liabilities amounting to Rs 2,705.38 crore are pending in various treasuries across the Union Territory, including bills of contractors and General Provident Fund (GPF) dues.
In reply to a question tabled by MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz, the government as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the total pending amount includes Rs 205.70 crore on account of contractors and Rs 2,499.68 crore under the GPF head.
The government, however, said that substantial payments have already been released during the current financial year 2025–26, with Rs 1,890 crore cleared against contractor liabilities and Rs 1,953.80 crore against GPF dues as of October 16, 2025.
“It is pertinent to mention that in order to regulate the payments in all sectors, the bills under various liability heads are cleared in a structured manner depending upon availability of resources,” the Finance Department stated—(KNO)
